United States' Achilles' heel

Without a doubt, Israel is the United States' Achilles' heel. Whatever Israel instructs, the United States follows to the dot. Israel has been attacking the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for over a week now despite numerous protests. None of the more formidable nations have condemned these attacks which I found shocking. On the weekend, the United States blocked the approval of a U.N. Security Council statement calling for an immediate cease fire in the Gaza Strip. This came as no surprise given on over 90% of occasions when the United States have used its veto power at the U.N., it had done so to save Israel's ass. I am starting to think that it is Israel which is the most powerful country in the world, not the United States as Israel listens to no one and no one dares stop them. How could this be? What good is the U.N.?
