She's back!

My mum is back, yes, that's right, she's back and I've got to put up with her for at least the next 6 weeks. In her typical style, the first thing she said to me was "You need a haircut!" Thanks mum, at my age, I am sure I can determine for myself when I need a haircut! The next comment related to my further education and when my response was to her dissatisfaction, she ranted on and on about my future. If you haven't noticed mum, I haven't even started to worry yet so why should you. It is afterall my future, not yours. With a start like this, I wonder how I'll survive the next 6 weeks. I don't why she is always so negative and over analyses things. If only she knew that she was one of the main reasons why I decided to leave Australia.

chase

The chase is on! They are chasing me for the documents necessary for my application! I have been putting it off because I don't think I've got the necessary experience to satisfy the society's requirements. It looks like I can't put it off any longer and will have to submit all my documents and hope for the best. I don't know where they got the idea that it might work but anyway, I guess there's no harm in giving it a shot, in any case, this option is definitely better than going through 4 years of torture. Wish me luck, I really want this to work!

The new temporary secretary has already expressed her intention to resign, merely a week into her job! Unbelievable!

typhoon

The number 8 typhoon signal was hoisted at 2:30pm on Friday this week. At most workplaces across Hong Kong (including ours), the number 8 signal means that staff can return home. I didn't return home immediately as I still had work that I wanted to get done. My decision to stay turned out to be a good one because the MTR station at Central was packed with commuters all rushing to get home at the same time. People were packed like sardines and a few fainted in the confined space. The secretaries at our firm have been praying for the number 8 signal ever since the typhoon was in our vicinity. I fail to understand why they were so happy about bad weather. I mean, there's not much they can do (at least outdoors anyway) when a number 8 signal is hoisted. What have they got to do at home that made them all so excited? Beats me! I would much rather the weather be good and I have to go to work as opposed to being forced to stay at home due to bad weather. Yep, I don't know what's wrong with me either. Since when did I start looking forward going to work every weekday and finding weekends boring?

working holiday

In the past week I've been thinking about going on a working holiday to Canada in summer next year. Well, actually, my plan is to spend April to October in Canada and November to March backpacking South America. I am not sure why I had that thought, it's not like I had a bad week at work or anything. I guess it is the travel bug in me...again! As I have stated previously, travelling is my number one passion, nothing else comes close and it has always been my intention to do most of my travelling (backpacking style) while I am still relatively young. It is inevitable that some people will find it difficult to understand why someone in their mid 20s would consider anything other than working up a corporate ladder but for me, life is for the living, it's not the destination that matters, it's the journey. I might not get to the top as quickly as the others but I'll definitely get there, I'm just taking the road less travelled, that's all! See you at the top!
