pending trip

I will be off beginning this Wednesday on a 6-day guided tour of Shanghai and Seoul with my mum and I am already regretting my decision to travel with her. It doesn't help that I have developed a sore throat today which for me is the first sign of a viral infection (most likely the flu). In this case, I estimate that I will be at my worst whilst I am on the tour. Therefore, I am now seriously contemplating cancelling my trip (pending how much I can recover of the cancelled tour fees). I don't want to get sick as I cannot contemplate the possibility of becoming as ill as I was for the most of last year with the non-stop urge to cough.

I really need to move out, I cannot stand either of my parents (and to a lesser extent, my sister). However, I am certain that property prices will continue to fall in the next few months so I am trying to sit tight in the interim but this is proving difficult.

It's my birthday today. I wish myself good health, good luck and happiness. I have had a few bad weeks both at work and at home so hopefully things will improve. For my birthday, I bought myself a book called "Essentials of Fire Fighting and Fire Department Operations" from Amazon for a whooping US$75 inclusive of postage. It's the most I've ever forked out for a book but it's a book that is not available for borrowing so I had no choice but to buy it.
